The Storyteller

The Storyteller captures our imagination with compelling narratives of initiative, hard work, and innovation. This person goes beyond oral tradition to work in whatever medium best fits their skills and message: video, narrative, animation, even comic strips. By rooting their stories in authenticity, the Storyteller can spark emotion and action, transmit values and objectives, foster collaboration, create heroes, and lead people and organizations into the future.

Being an Innovation Evangelist at Wipro Technologies (NYSE: WIT), my role spans a Story teller, Cross-pollinator, Experimenter and Collaborator. Here’s my story of as a Story Teller:

Being an organization with close to a 100,000 people, result oriented innovation has to become part of the the DNA of the firm and that can only happen (in my view) starting at a grass-roots level. Unless people at large are not excited about innovation and ready to conduct their own experiments, innovation remains a lip service. Through our innovation intranet, “Innovation PitStop”, we started telling stories of successful innovations that Wipro has done. These stories as narrated by me and our team went a long way in making a few folks excited to get their work published too. And this started a ripple effect with-in communities. Today we see people talking a lot more about innovation at all levels of the organization.
